Last month, two hundred ninety bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church assembled in Moscow to deal with practical matters in the life of the Russian Church. The Moscow Patriarchate has a nice site dedicated to the sobor, which includes a photography page. The bishops met at Christ the Savior Cathedral, which my brother Aaron and I visited while we were in Moscow. The hierarchical liturgies during the council must have been splendid:
The photography page also shows the bishops’ meeting with President Putin in the Andreyevsky Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. What a sight!
Aaron and I walked past that lovely building but we did not get to go inside. The main halls are imperial, indeed.
