The Fingerprint of God

My father sent me a link to the following video about Fibonacci numbers, which the producer calls the “fingerprint of God.”

I would say that the order of mathematics generally could be called the “fingerprint of God.” Our human reason is able to understand the rational, intelligible cosmos, which manifests the Logos so clearly and abundantly.

Kitty Copter

A few weeks ago, I came upon one of the most entertaining stories that I have ever seen online “Cats away! Artist turns his dead pet into flying helicopter after it is killed by a car.” The accompanying photos to the Daily Mail piece are alone worth the visit—and the photographer deserves a raise.

It seems, however, that my delight is somewhat peculiar. The comments to the story are pretty negative, and most folks think the story and its content are in poor taste or downright wicked. Maybe, I find too much pleasure in the absurd or indulge too readily in dark humor, but I think that pretty much everything about the article is fantastic, and I say that as someone who does not hate our feline friends. Do not miss the video!

Peters on Beating Children

Comedian Russell Peters addresses what some of my friends and I have long thought needed to be our nation’s next public service campaign: “Have you beaten your children today?” (rated R)

I have seen the consequences of sparing the rod; they are not lovely. Please discipline your unruly spawn with love—and with necessary slaps across their rude mouths. Fight against the newest form of barbarism born from Rousseauian foolishness and only allow your children to socialize with children whose parents exercise their authority. You are your children’s parents; act like it. You may be their friends when they approach thirty.

Good Cop, Dadaist Cop

XKCD has some very entertaining comics. Last week, I came across one that I particularly liked, “Good Cop, Dadaist Cop”:

A certain species of humor relies on the element of surprise. You may enjoy its greatest effect only once. Another, however, finds its power in the absurd, and from its fountain, you may indulge yourself many times. Happily, humorists often use both in their work to tickle us.

Unicorn Tattoos

Recently, I was looking online for ecclesial canons about tattoos when I came across “30 Awesomely Bad Unicorn Tattoos.” I assure you that it is even more trashy and vulgar than a decent man would expect. We live in a decadent age.
